Larp wallpapers — old money, painted in oil
A "larp" wallpaper is the screen version of dressing for the life you want: villas on the water, old watches, vintage cars, a study with a fire going. It is the old-money aesthetic — calm, expensive-looking, nothing loud — and it is all over MacBook setups right now.
Most larp wallpapers online are stock photos or low-resolution screenshots. These are different: each one is an impasto oil-painting artwork with thick, visible brushstrokes, framed 16:10 for the MacBook screen and delivered at 3840px wide. On a Retina display the paint texture holds up at full size, so it reads like a canvas on the wall rather than a stretched photo.
What makes a wallpaper "old money"
- Places: Lake Como, Monaco, the Amalfi coast, harbours full of wooden boats.
- Objects: heritage watches, leather goods, fragrance bottles, a well-used study.
- Cars: classic Italian sports cars rather than anything new and loud.
- Palette: sea blues, warm whites, deep greens — calm colours that keep your icons readable.
