Impasto wallpapers
Thick paint, visible knife marks, at a resolution that shows them.

Impasto is the technique of laying paint on thick enough that it stands off the surface and holds the mark of the tool that put it there. Look at a Van Gogh sky or a Sargent highlight and you are looking at impasto — the ridge catches real light, so the picture changes slightly as you move past it.
On a screen you lose the physical light-catching, but you keep the structure: broad confident planes of colour, hard edges where one stroke meets the next, and no soft blending. That is what makes these read as paintings at a glance rather than as filtered photographs.
Why it suits a wallpaper
- Texture everywhere means no flat areas to band or posterise on a large panel.
- Strong shapes stay readable behind windows, icons and text.
- The look holds at any size — the same file works on a phone and a 27-inch display.
